on the rules of conducting tests and exams at the end of the subject with the application of electronic communication means
Based on the Art. 23 par. 1 and 2, point 2, Art. 76a par. 1 and 3 of the Act issued on the 20th of July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 85, as amended), § 8 par. 2 and 3 points 2 of the Statute of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, attached to the Resolution No. 56/2019 of the Senate of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences issued on the 28th of June 2019 on the adoption of the Statute of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, it was decided as follows:
§ 1
- The organization of verification of the obtained learning outcomes at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences determined in the programmes of BA/BSc, MA/MSc and uniform master's degree studies, in particular conducting tests and examinations at the end of a specific subject, may take place outside the seat of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences using electronic means of communication with subject to par. 2.
- During the period of temporary limitation or temporary suspension of the functioning of the University, all tests/examinations ending the subjects take place remotely, subject to par. 3.
- In particularly justified cases, the test or final exam can be conducted at the seat of the University without the use of electronic means of communication if this test or final exam involves the verification of acquired practical skills, however, it requires the rector's consent. The application concerning a test or examination ending the subject referred to in the first sentence addressed to the rector shall be submitted by the dean or an authorized vice-dean.
- To conduct tests and examinations ending the subjects referred to in par. 1, hereinafter referred to as “remote tests/exams”, the University uses IT tools recommended by the Centre for Information Technology and the Centre for Resources and Didactics Support operating at the University, in particular:
1) Moodle e-learning platform,
2) Google Suite services (in particular Google Meet, Google Classroom),
3) Office 355 services (in particular MS Teams),
4) Zoom services.
- The academic teacher or other person conducting the classes, hereinafter referred to as the “teacher” selects the means of electronic communication, after consulting the students (the student representative of the year).
- The dean of the faculty or an authorized vice-dean are responsible for supervision over the proper conduct of remote tests/examinations.
- After obtaining the opinion of the students (student representative of the year), the dean or the authorized vice-dean in consultation with the vice-rector for student affairs and education can allow the use of other electronic means of communication to verify the learning outcomes obtained by the student, provided that they do not require the purchase of hardware and software by students and that such means ensure the protection of personal data. In the absence of the aforementioned opinion within 3 days after filing the request for such an opinion, the requirement to obtain an opinion is deemed to be met.
- In justified cases, the teacher may change the form, rules and schedule of tests established during the first class, along with the conditions for accepting the test/examination, specified in the subject syllabus in order to verify the learning outcomes in the manner specified in sec. 1. Information concerning the introduced changes and the dates of remote tests/exams are provided by the teacher to the students without any delay.
- The introduction of changes indicated in par. 8 requires the approval of the dean or an authorized vice-dean after obtaining the opinion of students (student representative of the year). Students may submit their comments within 3 days of filing the request for an opinion.
- In order to adapt the course of remote tests/examinations to the needs of individuals with disabilities or special needs, electronic means of communication should be used in such a manner so that they would meet the needs of the aforementioned individuals notified to the Proxy of the Rector for Disabled Persons following the terms determined in the Regulation on providing support to disabled individuals at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
- The Didactic Resource and Support Centre (in consultation with other organizational units) is responsible for organization of trainings concerning the use of electronic means of communication referred to in par. 4 and 7, addressed to individuals participating in remote tests/examinations.
§ 2
- The teacher organizes the remote test/examination in a manner ensuring the independent character of student’s work and has an obligation to verify the student's identity.
- If the connection is interrupted during the remote test/examination due to technical reasons, the teacher decides whether it is necessary to repeat the test/exam or gives a grade taking into account what happened before the connection was interrupted.
- If, it is necessary to repeat the remote test/exam due to technical reasons referred to in par. 2, the designated additional date of exam/test is not to be treated as an exam/test re-sit.
- During the remote test/examination, the student is required to have a constantly activated camera. The camera is to be directed at the student. The camera image cannot be processed - one is not allowed to use any additional software modifying the image, for example, software adding a background or effects. At the teacher’s instruction, the student is obliged to provide the image of the room the student is located in using camera. Failure to comply with the aforementioned obligations can constitute the grounds for terminating the test/examination and being granted an unsatisfactory grade.
§ 3
- In order to ensure the security of personal data and verify the identity of individuals, students and teachers participating in remote tests and exams are required to use e-mail operating within the domain upwr.edu.pl only.
- In particularly justified cases, one can obtain a permission to use e-mail accounts in the domain of the university/institution employing the teacher conducting remote test/exam if such a teacher is not an employee of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences or the university/institution where the student taking part in the remote test/exam studies.
§ 4
The deans of faculties are responsible for the execution of this regulation and the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education provides supervision over the execution of the regulation.
§ 5
This regulation becomes effective on the day it is signed
