Job position: Scholarship grantee / Student / PhD student

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in biology or a biology-related field,
2. a solid knowledge of animal physiology,
3. knowledge in the field of molecular biology,
4. experience in techniques such as RNA isolation, RT-qPCR and Western blot,
5. background in planning experiments, data analysis and writing scientific publications,
6. ability to work independently and in a group, communication skills,
7. computer skills in the MS Office environment and the statistical package,
8. fluent in spoken and written English.

Description of duties:
The own research carried out so far has shown that biochar (BC) as a feed additive improves eggshell resistance to crushing and eggshell thickness, which are critical parameters in poultry production.
Our research will investigate the dietary BC of different surface areas to analyse its effect on eggshell formation efficiency and uterus protein secretion since this parameter was not studied so far.

Tasks:

1. Collection of uterine fluid and tissue samples of the follicular tubes,
2. Performing isolation of RNA, preparation of libraries for RNAseq, verification of gene expression with RT-qPCR, isolation and purification of protein for differential proteomic analysis,
3. Gene Ontology analysis of the RNAseq dataset, evaluation and interpretation of results from RT-qPCR and proteomics analysis,
4. Preparing periodic reports and materials for scientific publications.

Terms of employment:

• Scholarship: PLN 5,000 (gross gross) per month for 12 months with the possibility of an extension,
• Planned start of work: October 1, 2023.
